DISRUPTIVE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR EARTH OBSERVATION
ABOUT RUDEO:
The RUDEO (DISRUPTIVE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR EARTH OBSERVATION) project is a one-year project launched in November 2023 as a response to ESA AO/1-11610/23/I-EF – Invitation to Tender. The primarily focus of RUDEO is assessing the feasibility and potential value of applying disruptive digital technologies, especially Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Semantic Web, and Web 3.0 within the Earth Observation (EO) ecosystem. The project’s core aim is to explore how these technologies can be effectively integrated across various downstream applications.
RUDEO’S SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES:
- Feasibility and Impact Assessment: The project seeks to understand the potential benefits and real-world implications of integrating disruptive digital technologies within the EO ecosystem.
- Proof-of-Concept Development: RUDEO will develop and demonstrate proof-of-concepts (POCs) showcasing how these technologies can significantly enhance EO applications in two selected use cases.
- Strategic Roadmap Development: The project will lay the groundwork for the wider adoption of disruptive technologies in the EO sector by creating a visionary roadmap that guides future research and implementation.
RUDEO SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:
Use Case Identification & Prioritization: Rigorous selection of use cases based on feasibility, scalability, potential   demand, and measurable impact.
Proof-of-Concept Implementation: Development of two POCs demonstrating the practical integration and benefits of these technologies
